2017 Toyota Tacoma Eager To Hit Back At Colorado ZR2

#ToyotaTacomaEager #ColoradoZR22017 Toyota Tacoma Eager To Hit Back At Colorado ZR2 : Bringing on a new diesel powertrain option into the United States is quite a daring move by any automaker; however Toyota is not one to play on the safe side lately. With that, it seems plausible to expect a diesel Tacoma in the near future.

Rumor has it that the 2017 Toyota Tacoma may simply bring in an oil burner variant into the lineup as a comeback to the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. The latter was recently revealed as a direct rival to the Tacoma TRD series.

Usually, the off-road Tacoma models are hot sellers and dominate a large percentage of the total sales of the top-selling mid-size pickup. So, the threat of being on par to a Colorado fitted with GM’s 2.8L Duramax diesel mill would definitely put Toyota on the edge.

That being said, Toyota may be able to strike back at the Colorado ZR2 but would it be done effectively? The Colorado Duramax is able to make about 369 lb-ft of torque, which is pretty high from the Tacoma’s reach.

On top of that, it also needs to prove to the EPA that it could comply with the strict efficiency requirements to bring on diesel power in the US, and that would be a hard feat for the pickup. Well, not all automaker can follow in Mazda’s footsteps in this aspect.
