#BlackberryMercury #MWC2017 – BlackBerry Mercury MWC 2017 Appearance Is Now Official : The BlackBerry Mercury, also known as the BlackBerry DTEK70, has been shown off at the CES 2017 event. However, not a lot of details has been shared and it kept fans hanging as to when the phone will be showcased once again. Now, the rumor about the BB Mercury’s MWC appearance has been made official.
BlackBerry Mercury Will Be On The MWC 2017 Event
BlackBerry Mobile has finally shared the teaser that confirms the BlackBerry Mercury’s participation at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event. Nevertheless, the “Mercury” or the “DTEK70” names are still unofficial and can change during official launch. But as per the teaser tweet, the keyboard-sporting BB phone will be showcased February 25. This event will hopefully provide answers as to what the new BlackBerry phone has to offer as a smartphone.
It’s worth noting that at the CES 2017, attendees were able to get their hands on the pre-production BB Mercury unit. Android Authority says they were able to get a feel of the phone before TCL and BlackBerry finish it up. The source says that the phone’s software may not be entirely finished, but the hardware was quite impressive.
BlackBerry Mercury: What’s Known So Far
It’s worth mentioning that the new BlackBerry phone is no longer produced by BlackBerry. A company named TCL is now the licensed owner of the brand but BlackBerry itself is still semi-part of the engineering and designing of the phone. As per Trusted Reviews, the BlackBerry Mercury is the last model that was engineered in-house by BlackBerry. Do note that the company has officially quit its smartphone ambitions last year. However, the brand itself is licensed to operate forever. With that, TCL bought the licensing rights to the BlackBerry brand and this company can now legally sell phones under that popular name.
As for the BlackBerry Mercury’s specs, the phone will run Android Nougat from the box and will come with 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage and a 3400 mAh battery, at least as per different online sources. As for the processor, the BlackBerry Mercury could be powered by Snapdragon 635. It could then sport an 18 MP/8 MP camera combo and a 3.5 mm jack. This, of course, goes without saying that the BlackBerry Mercury will come with a QWERTY keyboard and a 4.5-inch screen as what its readers online suggest.
